Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and love is in the air. Around every corner is a reminder to get your Valentine a gift that fully encompasses your love and will look good on Instagram. While we encourage you to share your love, this February we are encouraging a little self-love. The entire concept of self-love is far more complicated than a few little self-care tasks-however, we would like to remind you that you have to start somewhere. So this Valentine’s day we challenge you to practice the art of self-love. It doesn’t have to be over complicated or cost you thousands of dollars- just simply starting with a simple act of kindness toward yourself will do. No matter your relationship status, your accomplishments, or whether or not you think you deserve it...you do. So with love, Lulu Bella Boutique presents:
5 Ways to Practice the Art of Self Love
1. Journaling.
If you are already groaning from the word “journaling”, then we hear you. It can seem like overused advice that is on every list pertaining to mental health and self-love. It’s true that journaling is highly recommended everywhere, but it is for a reason. It has been proven to be very useful in detangling a busy mind and sorting through limiting and harmful thoughts. Everyone is different, therefore journaling needs to be accommodating to you. Opening a blank journal can be incredibly fun with its unlimited potential, but it can also be intimidating, especially if you don’t know where to start. If that is where you are at then we have an amazing journal to recommend to you.
The Promplty Self Love Journal is an awesome journal we sell here on the website and in store. It has prompts, quotes, and exercises to open up your mind to the idea of self-acceptance. We highly recommend this journal if you are looking to get to know yourself better, learn how you tick, and practice the art of self-love. Regular journaling has been shown to boost confidence, limit brain fog, and just overall declutter the mind.
You are alive and you have made it so far already. I know we all have incredibly busy lives, so a daily two-hour self-care routine may not bein the books for you. We do, however, recommend setting aside thirty minutes a week to celebrate you. We tend to set aside celebrations for a job promotion or graduating college- but we need to remember to celebrate the little things too- like surviving being an adult in 2023, remembering to put on pants in the morning, or even just getting out of bed this morning. So set a timer and take thirty minutes, to read a book, light a candle, take a bath, and pour yourself a drink- because you deserve to celebrate you.
Take a deep breath and don’t stress. We don’t want to sell you 50 products that are overwhelming and take up half your morning. The great thing about a skincare routine is that it is completely customizable. The amount of time, money, and effort you put into it is entirely up to you and valid whether you use 1 or 20 products. We are simple girlies here, and highly recommend our
Skinny-Co 3-in-1 Cleanser.
4. Treat yourself to your favorite meal.
Whether your favorite meal is homemade or an old favorite from Chik-fil-a, treat yourself. Giving yourself a meal that your soul loves is a great way to treat yourself. Even or especially if you are elbow deep in a diet right now, treating yourself to one meal that brings joy is so important. It is so easy to get caught up in calories and macros, food shaming, and diet culture, that we often forget that food is for pleasure. Creating balance for yourself, eating for joy, and beginning a healthier relationship with yourself and food are great ways to get rid of the toxic and negative energy we hold against ourselves.
Whether you pop open that journal, write it down in the comments, or take a moment just to ponder what is great about you- is a great way to start the momentum for a positive relationship with yourself. Self-improvement is a great quality to have, but so is appreciating who you are right now. So what are five things that are great about you? They can be small or big things, but acknowledging the greatness you hold is an amazing way to fall in love with yourself. The mind is a powerful thing and the more you tell yourself you are awesome...the more awesome you will feel.
The most important thing to remember is that Valentine’s is just a silly made-up holiday. So go easy on yourself, enjoy it, and remember to show yourself some love this year. Let us know in the comments below how you plan to practice the art of self-love. Happy Valentine’s Day.
